Football Performance Measured Differently
Football Rating Index — FRI — is built to provide an objective, data-driven way of measuring individual football performance across every position on the pitch.
What FRI Does
FRI turns recorded match actions into a clear points score. Goals, assists, saves, defensive actions, passing, discipline and other measurable contributions are converted into FRI points using a published scoring system.
How It Works
Measure
Match actions are taken from recorded football data rather than reputation, popularity or subjective opinion.
Score
Each qualifying action earns or loses a defined number of FRI points under the published Rulebook.
Rank
Player totals are compared across the competition to create weekly and overall performance rankings.
Built For Every Position
Football performance is not one-size-fits-all. FRI uses role-specific weighting where the value or rarity of an action changes depending on the position of the player.
Saves, clean sheets and rare attacking contributions carry greater role-specific value.
Defensive actions and clean sheets are weighted strongly, with extra value for attacking output.
Scoring balances creation, passing, attacking output and defensive involvement.
Attacking actions remain important, but common forward contributions use role-adjusted weighting.
Built On Data. Not Opinion.
The aim is simple: make player performance easier to compare without adding a hidden opinion score. The same published scoring rules are applied consistently to every player.
